Fleeting temples of the holy What a beautiful idea That we could infuse the smallest moment With untethered love What I can offer a stranger With ease and simplicity So much harder to do in close proximity Where familiarity is a disservice to kindness Can I bridge the walls I've built The ones I've stood up as protection Built on my own fear And instead extend a kindness As simple as carrying your groceries Or lending you my yard tools Can I choose to build a temple in this moment Chose to leave my carefully guarded grounds Can I offer you my warmth Or the strength of my shoulders next to yours Carrying these burdens together What we have is now Mere seconds for the counting Let me choose the lovelier thing Grace that builds bridges And brings us all home
